Episode 124 - Head in a Bag

AMC's Fear the Walking Dead has reached the mid-season hiatus and it continues it's current trend of awesomeness and we get in to some of the nitty and gritty on the various characters and situations. We are still happy with the show, and are hopeful it continues this way when it returns.  We also talk about a newish zombie film, 2016's Here Alone. This is grim stuff but an interesting new spin on the genre. After that we hit many high points in our "other media" portion before wrapping it up to start off on a journey into the world of VR. Episode 123 - Fearful Excellence

Holy crow! Both the writing on Fear the Walking Dead and the audio quality of the Z-Realm Podcast are rockin'! KMO and Marty typically record via Skype, but KMO is in Greensboro for the summer, and he has brought the kit that he uses to record face to face interviews for the C-Realm Podcast. So in addition to good gear, they're recording face to face, which brings a different vibe. Everything that had grown stale is new again (except maybe for the "aim for the head" line at the end).
But what about Fear the Walking Dead? Why is it so good now? They've cleared the decks of the characters who were holding the show back, improved the ones they kept, and brought on board a new bunch who have a coherent backstory and motivations and who push the returning characters in compelling new directions. At long last, stuff is working on FTWD. The show has finally caught up to its killer title sequence.

Episode 122 - And I Feel Fine

And lo, as it was prophesied, in the time before the dead began to roam the earth...the Z-Realm is back after a two month hiatus to catch up with the latest episodes of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. After ending on an upswing, the third season of the 2nd-Tier zombie show continues its winning ways with a very interesting new location and a compelling mix of new characters. We like what we see and then quickly find ourselves falling through a Wonder-Woman-Shaped hole into the land of other media where we catch up on all the other things we've seen or experienced since our last recording. We are happy to be back and hope you're all happy about it too!  Let us know what you thought of the show by writing to mail@z-realm.com or by leaving us a message on our Facebook page.

Episode 121 - 7 the Hard Way

Season 7 of AMC's The Walking Dead has concluded, and we thought it concluded the same way that a balloon with a small leak does...it just gradually emptied and then lay there, flaccid on the floor.  We don't have much love for the way the season ended, but we were generally impressed with the final 3 episodes and we go into some detail about what we felt were the high and low points of the episodes. We follow up that conversation with our patented "other media" segment and then things get REALLY interesting. Episode 120 - Choke Me Here

The Z-Realm is back to take a look at episodes 12 and 13 from season 7 of AMC's The Walking Dead. Spoiler alert!!! We didn't like them very much.  We agree that there is 100% too many CGI deer in the show, but that is just one of our issues. We go into it in great detail and then wander for a long time in very deep, dark forest of ideas. Come along with us and let us know what you think. Write to mail@z-realm.com or post a message on our Facebook page.

Episode 119 - Begin Again

We are finally back. Sorry for the long delay since the last episode, but life got in the way and our lowered enthusiasm made it hard to climb back into our respective saddles.  But here it is, our wrap up of the first three episodes of the second half of Season 7 of AMC's The Walking Dead.  We don't love much of the first two, and especially hate the "garbage people", but episode 12, Hostiles and Calamities, has rejuvenated us a bit. It was excellent to see a new side of Eugene and to learn more about Dwight.
Since there was such a long gap, we spend a long time talking about other media and catching up on what's been happening in our lives.

Episode 118 - And Now We Wait

We finally reconvene to wrap up the rest of the first half of season 7 of AMC's The Walking Dead. We aren't loving these last few episodes, but we get past them as quickly as we can  so we can turn to things that we are loving and anticipating in a much bigger way. Listen in and hear us go on and on about a variety of topics. Let us know what you thought by writing to mail@z-realm.com or leave us a message on our Facebook page.
